Sparko Attendance — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 August 2026

This policy explains what the Sparko Attendance Android application collects, why it collects it, and who can see it. It applies only to that app. Sparko India Pvt. Ltd. (“Sparko India”, “we”) is the data controller.

Who this app is for. Sparko Attendance is an internal workforce application, issued to employees of Sparko India for recording their own attendance. It is not a consumer app and cannot be used without an employee account created by your administrator.

1. What we collect

Data Why When
Precise location (GPS latitude, longitude and accuracy) To confirm you were at your assigned office when you punched in or out, and to geotag a recorded field visit. Only while the app is open on screen. The app does not collect location in the background or when it is closed.
Photographs (a selfie taken at punch time) To confirm the punch was made by you and not by someone else holding your phone. Only at the moment you punch, and only from the camera. The app does not read your photo gallery.
Device information — device identifier, model, platform, app version, and whether the device is rooted, an emulator, or reporting a mock location To bind your account to one phone, and to detect falsified attendance such as a fake-GPS application. At sign-in and with each punch.
Employee record — employee code, name, designation, department, mobile number and email address To identify you in the app and in the attendance register. Held in your employer's HRMS; shown to you in the app.
Attendance and visit records — punch times, day status, and for field staff the place, purpose and remarks of a visit To maintain the attendance register your payroll is calculated from. Each time you punch or record a visit.

The app does not collect contacts, messages, call logs, browsing activity, files on your device, or advertising identifiers. It contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking software.

2. Location, specifically

Location is the most sensitive thing this app handles, so to be exact:

  • Location is read only while the app is in the foreground and visible to you. The app does not hold background-location permission and cannot track you when it is closed or minimised.
  • A location reading is sent to our server only when you punch in, punch out, or record a field visit. Moving around with the app open does not send anything.
  • Your live position is shown to you on screen so you can see whether you are inside your office boundary before you punch.

3. How it is stored

  • Records are transmitted over HTTPS and stored on Sparko India's servers, within the same HRMS your employment records already live in.
  • Your sign-in token is held in the Android encrypted keystore on your phone. Your password is never stored on the device.
  • If you punch without a signal, the punch and its photo are held in local storage on your phone until it can be uploaded, then removed from the queue.
  • Passwords are stored only as a bcrypt hash. Nobody at Sparko India, including administrators, can read your password.

4. Who can see it

Your attendance data is visible to authorised HR and management staff at Sparko India, for payroll and workforce administration.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or any other commercial purpose. It is disclosed outside Sparko India only where the law requires it, or to a service provider hosting our servers under a confidentiality obligation.

5. How long we keep it

Attendance and visit records are retained for as long as required for payroll, statutory and audit purposes under Indian employment law, and are deleted or anonymised afterwards. Punch photographs are retained for the period needed to resolve attendance disputes.

6. Your choices

  • You may refuse or later revoke the location and camera permissions in Android Settings. The app will keep working, but you will not be able to punch, because a punch cannot be verified without them.
  • You may ask to see, correct, or ask about deletion of your personal data by contacting us at the address below. Requests to delete attendance records may be limited by our statutory obligation to retain payroll records.
  • Signing out removes your session token from the phone.

7. Children

Sparko Attendance is for employed adults. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

8. Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page and, for a significant change, notify you in the app.
